Aarushi Murder Case: CBI Points Aarushi's Parents As Prime Suspect

Aarushi-Hemraj murder case on Wednesday saw a major turnaround as the Central Bureau of Investigation’s report pointed Aarushi's parents as the prime suspect in the case.

Opposing the petition filed by Aarushi's father Rajesh Talwar against the CBI closure report, the CBI counsel R.K. Saini said that there was no further scope for investigation.

The report says that there were number of circumstances indicating involvement of the parents in the crime and the cover-up.

“The circumstantial evidence in IO's probe puts suspicion on parents' role but in all fairness he has also admitted weakness in successful prosecution in the case,” Saini said.

On the other hand Talwar’s counsel, Satish Tamta, insisted on conducting low count DNA procedure.

“Three labs said that it is not possible as samples are highly contaminated while one UK-based lab with which the Talwars were in touch said they could do it but it was found through Interpol that it was not registered there,” Tamta was quoted as saying.

Justice Preeti Singh has asked the couple to appear before the court on February 28.
